H-1B visa explained
What Is an H-1B Visa?
The H-1B visa is a U.S. nonimmigrant visa classification that allows eligible U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign professionals in specialty occupations. These positions generally require the application of specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a directly related specific specialty, subject to applicable requirements.
The H-1B program is commonly used in fields such as information technology, engineering, scientific research, finance, and other specialized professional occupations.
The process typically involves an employer sponsor, a Labor Condition Application (LCA), and an H-1B petition filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Depending on the circumstances, additional requirements may apply, including registration and selection under the H-1B cap process.
